Introduction
Medieval Empires, an elaborate and immersive multiplayer online strategy game, transports players back to the late 13th century, a time of turbulent historical events and epic battles. Set in the region that is now modern-day Turkey, this game offers a unique blend of history and fiction, where players have the opportunity to shape their own empires, forging alliances, battling invaders, and trading their way to greatness. This article delves into the world of Medieval Empires, exploring its gameplay, features, and the technology behind it.
Game Setting and Background
Medieval Empires sets the stage in a passive PvE (Player versus Environment) area during the late 13th century, a period teeming with historical significance. The central focus of the game’s storyline is Ertuğrul Gazi, a prominent leader of the Kayi tribe. The game introduces players to Ertuğrul as he faces off against the formidable Edward Longshanks, also known as Edward I of England, who is embarking on a successful 9th Crusade across Europe and the Holy Land.
This historical backdrop serves as the foundation for an epic adventure that combines factual events with creative storytelling. The game doesn’t adhere strictly to historical accuracy; instead, it adjusts historical figures, events, tribes, and alliances to create an engaging and exciting gaming experience.
Game Overview
Medieval Empires places players in the shoes of a medieval war hero on their path to power and prestige. Starting as the leader of a small village, you gradually expand your lands into a thriving emirate by trading, battling invaders, forming alliances, and building mighty empires in collaboration with other players.
Players must choose a faction to align with at the beginning of the game. Initially, there are two factions:
English Crusaders: Led by Edward Longshanks, these disciplined knights are embarking on the ninth Crusade, bringing their armies to the Holy Land.
Turkic Tribes: Nomadic warriors from Anatolia, these infantry fighters are known for their stealthy and ruthless nature. Their deadly weapon, the harquebus, can devastate their enemies, and they are fiercely dedicated to defending their homeland.
The game begins in a PvE area where players must build and defend their towns. Invasions on your land pose constant threats that need to be addressed, while NFTs allow players to become landowners, enabling them to collect taxes from other players who wish to build on their land. Additionally, events in various provinces introduce PvP battles and aggressive PvE missions, offering rewards and fame as the ultimate prizes.
For those who prefer a less competitive approach, Medieval Empires allows players to focus on managing their land and clan, or engage in trading with other players to exchange in-game items for cryptocurrency.
The game’s world is divided into three primary sections: the World Map, Provinces, and Towns. The World Map serves as the broadest view of the game, providing an overview of the entire in-game universe. Provinces are pieces that form the World Map, where most player interactions unrelated to production or progress take place. Counties, located within provinces, are sold as NFTs through land sales and have unique features and bonuses. Towns, on the other hand, are the core of progress and production, where players produce and upgrade everything, including units, gear, and heroes.
